Frances Bean Cobain

Hedi Slimane captured Frances Bean Cobain in a way that makes me tingly all over. Being rock royalty cant be easy, but at least she makes it look good. Daughter of the late Kurt Cobain and Courtney Love is revealed. This series also makes me want a tattoo... damn girl

French designer for Yves Saint Laurent from 1997 to 1999, Hedi Slimane has turned to rock photography and became the International Designer of the Year in 2002, and worked for
Dior Homme (2003-2007)

90 Days One Dream by Kristian Schuller

Although Kristian Schuller was ought to be a fashion designer, skimming the Paris fashion shows alongside his teacher Vivienne Westwood, things turned out differently when he was struck by his passion for fashion photography.

After his initial introduction by Isabella Blow to Condé Nast Publications in London, Kristian has continued working internationally with various fashion magazines and commercial clients. His work has been published in magazines such as Vogue Hellas, Harper’s Bazaar, Stiefelkonig and Vogue Gioiello ever since; and besides Gisele Bündchen, Amber Arbucci and Heidi Klum, Kristian also provided his work to Duran Duran to shape the Astronaut’s album cover.

Colourful, dreamy, surreal and fantastic, Kristian’s style is definitely well recognizable. In the 90 Days One Dream eBook, Kristian travels to the most beautiful places in the world, accompanied by young girls full of dreams. An unusual and exciting challenge for the fashion photographer that inspired an intensive fashion project. The result: A road movie of fantastically staged photo shoots, an adventure that for everyone involved became mainly one thing in the end – a dream.

Cow Nipple Dress

Londoners can hardly be called prudes, but a dress made from 3,000 protruding cow nipplesnot yak, as People.co.uk erroneously reported—had Fashion Week attendees clutching at their pearls like disapproving dowagers. Designed by Liverpool-born designer Rachel Freire, who fashioned the nipples into disarmingly genteel rosettes, the floor-length gown has raised the ire of the British public, politicians, and animal-rights groups alike, who have branded it “inappropriate and disturbing,” “absolutely grotesque,” “sickening and repulsive,” and a “runaway freak show,” according to the gossip website.

Pow Wow

These photos were taken at the annual pow wow in Bishop, California, where Native Americans come together from across the US and Canada for a little friendly competition in traditional dancing, singing, and drumming. Their clothing and regalia are all handmade, either by themselves or by family members as gifts. Their wardrobes are also typically handed down within their families—one elder was wearing and dancing in an outfit that was at least 85 years old.

Red Pepper Quilts

This blog makes me green with envy! Her designs and technique are simply flawless. I love her palettes she chooses for each project, and this is a great source of inspiration for future quilting projects. Many of her projects are available for purchase at her ETSY store. Rita is located in Melbourne, Austraila. I am heading to Australia soon, it would be a dream to learn a thing or two from her!

Swedish Designed Furniture

This Swedish design furniture by Svenskt Tenn is an artful mix of modernist and heritage, old and new, color and pattern. Josef Frank and Estrid Ericsson founded the company and created a blended style boasting Viennese elegance and Swedish functionalism. Not your grandmother’s furniture, these sofas and chairs definitely call to mind that bygone era but with a decidedly modern edge. The funky, vibrant upholstery is trendy yet timeless, while the frames are clearly inspired by the classics, built to last with a look that will never go out of style. The sofas boast plush cushions and a double-spring system for the ultimate in comfort. The chairs, meanwhile, come in a variety of different shapes and details that would look great as an eclectic mix-and-match collection in the dining room or living area. More information on this design furniture is available by visiting Svenskt Tenn.

Foster the People

Foster the People. See for yourself. They are fan-nominal.

"First formed in Los Angeles, California in 2009, indie rock trioFoster the People were a bunch of guys in their mid-twenties who used Foster and the People as their initial moniker. But since people often misheard the name and called it Foster the People instead, members Mark Foster, Cubbie Fink and Mark Pontius opted the name" -Ace Show Biz

Zucchini & Feta Tart

One of the many amazing recipes from Australia's Gourmet Traveller Magazine website. I was looking for a recipe to use up the last harvest of zucchini and tomatoes from the garden, and what a better way to celebrate the beginning of fall than with this tasty and healthy tart. The colors are amazing and will make your palate happy!

Zucchini and feta tart with roasted cherry tomatoes

Serves 6

250 gm  butter puff pastry (see note)
3  zucchini, thinly sliced on a mandolin
200 gm  Bulgarian sheep feta, coarsely crumbled
¼ cup  coarsely chopped dill
1  lemon, finely grated rind only
1 clove  garlic, crushed
300 gm  truss cherry tomatoes
1 tbsp  extra-virgin olive oil
1 tbsp  red wine vinegar

1Preheat oven to 200C. Roll out pastry on a floured surface to 5mm thick and use to line a lightly greased 11.5cm x 34cm loose-bottomed, fluted tart tin, folding in any excess pastry. Line pastry-lined tin with baking paper, weight down with pastry weights or rice and bake blind for 15 minutes. Remove paper and weights and bake for 5 minutes or until golden.
2Combine zucchini, feta, dill, lemon rind and garlic in a bowl and season to taste with sea salt and freshly ground black pepper. Spoon into prepared pastry case and bake for 15 minutes or until golden.
3Meanwhile, place tomatoes on a separate oven tray, drizzle with olive oil, red wine vinegar and season to taste. Place in oven with tart and cook for 10 minutes or until tomatoes just split, then remove and keep warm. Stand tart for at least 10 minutes before cutting. Serve tart warm or at room temperature with roasted cherry tomatoes.

Kitchen Confidential

When you read this, you hear his voice. Everything about each page, each chapter, just oozes Anthony Bourdain. He has had an amazing life and career. You can smell his cigarettes, feel the grime under his fingernails, and appreciate what that entree has been through before it hits your table. I can't wait to begin on his "Nasty Bits" these books were the best birthday gift I could have received! I leave you with my favorite quote of the entire book...

"My business model was, 'I don't give a shit' and Im trying very hard to keep that as my operating business model"
-Anthony Bourdain

Improve your Palate

Ever wonder how & why you develop tastes for things you once hated? Tastes evolve and developing your palate for wine, beer, spirit, or food tastings can be as easy as following these tips:

1.) QUIT SMOKING!
Smoke- no matter what kind- diminishes your ability to smell and taste. Nicotine suppresses the nerve activity in the brain that detects taste.

2.) Pay attention to what you are eating
Be mindful when you eat. Pay attention to the color, textures, and flavors of every bite. Try to eat without distractions like television, work, or driving. Eat slowly and compare and contrast each ingredient.

3.) Try new foods
Eat all the colors of the rainbow everyday. Giving your diet a variety will ensure you get all the essential nutrients, and plenty of fiber, iron, and protein. Introducing new foods will stimulate your palate and help you to identify flavors in more complex dishes.

4.) Avoid foods that coat/distract your palate
Strong flavors, salts, sugars, and fats coat your palate and overstimulate your tastebuds making it harder to distinguish between subtle flavors. Cutting out these may make your food taste bland for the short-term, but will help your overall health and improve your eating experiences for the long-term

5.) Stay healthy!
A cough, cold, and stuffy sinuses can inhibit your sense of smell & taste
