Vue du Monde, Melbourne, Australia

"Shannon Bennett’s established fine dining, recently reinvigorated in the move to Level 55 of Melbourne’s iconic Rialto. Vue de monde is testament to the belief that restaurant dining can be a wondrous, unforgettable experience and pays homage to classical fine dining in a sophisticated, modern context" ~vuedemonde.com

I had the immense pleasure of going to lunch at the amazing Vue du Monde Restaurant in Melbourne, Australia. The 10 course meal, including wine pairings, a cheese course, and several desserts and petit fours was a once in a lifetime experience. Each course awakened the senses and pleasured the palate

Inspired by master chefs such as Carême, Dugléré and Escoffier, Shannon Bennett’s cuisine respects classic techniques and ingredients while reflecting his own innovative style at his Melbourne, Australia restaurant, Vue de monde. His culinary journey began at age 15 with an apprenticeship at the Hyatt in Melbourne under Roger Leinhard, and continued in Europe in the kitchens of Albert Roux, John Burton Race and Marco Pierre White.

In 2000, Bennett opened his first Vue de monde in Carlton, and a few years later opened the current location in Melbourne, where he translates his background in classic French cuisine to an Australian setting. Vue de monde was awarded “Restaurant of the Year” by Australian Gourmet Traveller for 2006 and again in 2007—the first time in the award’s history that it was won by the same restaurant in consecutive years.

and sofas in the library lounge, characterized by a curved metal rod that is
harmonically unjustified in its clustered complexity, positioned under each
seat.

'cinema seats' by david lynch (manufactured by quinette)

cinema seats
the cinema seats (manufactured by quinette) are the result of
a special ergonomic study that has been conducted to match a spacious and
atypical manner to experience the cinema viewing. the seat owns a reduced
inclination and straightforward geometry to allow the guests a liberated position.
each seat has its leg stretch pouf, tray, lamp and uncompromised space.
projected bronze has been applied to the entire support of the seat.

silencio club owners arnaud frisch, manu barron and anthony caton invited david lynch
to create a 'unique club experience' the result is a new space located at 42 rue montmartre
that is inspired by and named after club silencio from the film mulholland drive made by
lynch in 2001.

Pallet Homeless Project

A group of college students at Emily Carr University built some tiny houses for the homeless as a school project.

The students built three prototypes and at first local governments weren’t interested in using them. Luckily someone came to their senses and today they are in use by the Vancouver Aboriginal Transformative Justice Society. They are no larger than 64 square feet, provide shelter and a warm place to sleep, and cost less than $1,500 CAD each to build.

Frances Bean Cobain

Hedi Slimane captured Frances Bean Cobain in a way that makes me tingly all over. Being rock royalty cant be easy, but at least she makes it look good. Daughter of the late Kurt Cobain and Courtney Love is revealed. This series also makes me want a tattoo... damn girl

French designer for Yves Saint Laurent from 1997 to 1999, Hedi Slimane has turned to rock photography and became the International Designer of the Year in 2002, and worked for
Dior Homme (2003-2007)
